Carta executoria issued in the name of Philip II of Spain in favor of Juan Ximenez de Angulo of Sancto Domingo de la Calçada (i.e., Santo Domingo de la Calzada) in response to his pleito de hidalguia (litigation to establish noble status). Includes signatures (f. 32r) and a later addition dated 1614 (f. 32r-32v).

Title from colophon (f. 32r). Zacour-Hirsch gives the title as Carta executoria, which is the more common formula for documents of this type. Description taken largely from Zacour-Hirsch.
Foliation: Parchment, i (contemporary parchment) + 32 + i (contemporary parchment); [1-32]; modern foliation in pencil, lower right recto.
Layout: Written in 40 long lines; ruled in red.
Script: Written in Spanish rotunda script by a single hand, with a shorter document added by a second hand (f. 32r-32v).
Decoration: Two color illustrations of coats of arms (f. 2v), somewhat damaged due to smearing and flaking; several illuminated initials and section headings in gold on a red background; some doodling in the margins, probably later in date.
Binding: Contemporary gilt morocco over wooden boards. Very musty. Evidence of water and mildew damage. Leather wearing away from cover boards, especially at the corners.
Origin: Issued in Valladolid, Spain, August 1564 (f. 31v-32r).
