- The photograph is in a book with a typed description. The description: "(Luke, xiii:35.)--Every Friday afternoon the Jews gather at this place, turn their faces to these big stones in the wall--which are supposed to be part of the very building material that entered into the structure of Solomon's temple--and bewail their fate. This is just outside of the wall that encloses the Mosque of Omar. Travelers passing this way during the hours devoted by the Jews to wailing are solicited to make contributions, which they usually do. One cannot help but observe in Jerusalem to-day the devotion of the Jews to their city. All the years of change and war and bloodshed and fire and persecution have not been able to destroy the affection which this ancient people of God have for their Holy City.
