Notes
Four men amidst a field of broken capitals, columns and stone fragments. The Sea of Galilee is in the background.
The photograph is in a book with a typed description. The description: "(John, xxi:11.)--'Simon Peter went up and drew the net to land full of great fishes, an hundred and fifty and three, and for all there were so many, yet was not the net broken.' This incident took place on the Sea of Galilee after the resurrection. It is probable that it also occurred at Capernaum, where our Savior made his home after being rejected by His own people at Nazareth. The picture above is a representation of Capernaum as it appears today. Broken marble, Corinthian and Doric capitals, weeds, desolation, and the ever-moving and everchanging Galilean Sea, is all that we see now. The proud Capernaum, that was exalted to heaven, is now left utterly in ruins. Here, in the midst of His old home, the Lord appeared to the disciples after the resurrection."
The photograph was not catalogued by Lazard--it was catalogued at LKCAJS.
