Notes
The Harrisburg Car Co., renamed the Harrisburg Car Works and then the Harrisburg Car Manufacturing Co., was established in 1853. The firm made passenger, mail, baggage, box, cattle, platform, coal, and hand cars. Financial difficulties of the 1880s left the company with little in assets; it was soon in bankruptcy court, never to emerge. The collection comprises 45 photographic prints mounted on board. All depict train cars, products of the Harrisburg Car Manufacturing Company. All are oriented horizontally and range in size from 6 1/2 by 2 5/8 inches to 9 1/2 by 6 1/8 inches.
