Mosque of Omar, Jerusalem, from the South : "This mosque was founded by the Caliph Omar, about A.D. 640. It stands on part of the site of Solomon's Temple. 'Then Solomon began to build the house of the Lord on Mount Moriah, where the Lord appeared to David his father, in the place of the threshing-floor of Ornan the Jebusite.' 2 Chron. iii. 1."
