- The photograph is in in a book with a typed description in French: "Au centre de cette photographie, une petite coupole surmontée d’une croix indique le sanctuaire de l’Ecce Homo et le couvent des Dames de Sion. –Sa situation, dans un quartier aux rues étroites et en face de la grande mosquée, ne permet pas d’en prendre une vue plus détaillée.—Fondée des 1842, à Paris, la Congrégation des Dames de Sion ne s’établit à Jérusalem qu’en 1856. Quelque temps après, elles entreprenaient péniblement un orphelinat maintenant florissant, qui compte plus de 70 élèves.—A cette œuvre vint plus tard se joindre un pensionnat pour les filles de familles aisées. Plus bas que le couvent de l’Ecce-Homo, on voit un édifice en construction, c’est la future chapelle du Spasme, construite par les Arméniens catholiques, tout près des IIIe et IVe stations." The initials "B+P" are inscribed in a corner of the photograph. A wall at the lower right appears to have some writing on it.
