Notes
Consists primarily of the Greek text of the astronomical poem "Phaenomena" (including Disomeia) by Aratus followed by Cicero's Latin interpretation of the poem. Also includes the version written by Germanicus edited by Grotius with his notes and commentary on the texts .
With 43 full page engraved plates depicting the constellations, 42 of which are included in register and pagination. Engravings are signed with monogram "IDG" [Jacob de Gheyn]
Woodcut on title page representing a woman with two shields, within a wooden palisade, incorporates the Plantin device.
Another state has "antiquitatis" instead of "poeticae" on t.-p.
