A two-story squarish building with a flag flying from a flagpole and several smaller one-story stone buildings.
The photograph is in a book with a typed description in French: "Trop à l'étroit dans l'etablissement de Jérusalem où, en 1885, un petit noviciat était venu chercher asile, le Fr. Évagre s'est vu obligé de transporter son noviciat à Bethléem. C'est là que tous les orientaux qui ont la vocation de devenir frères viennent étudier et se sanctifier près de la Crèche. L'admirable position de ce nouvel établissement, sur la hauteur à l'entrée de la cité de David y a fait joindre le grand noviciat d'Égypte. Du haut de ce noviciat on a une des plus belles vues de Terre Sainte." The initials "B+P" are printed at the lower left corner of the photograph.
