- Extent
- 1 item (10 leaves) : paper ; 10 x 24 cm
- Notes
- This text is perhaps a section from the much larger Mantramañjūṣā of Trivikrama Bhaṭṭāraka (see Gopinath Kaviraj, Tāntrika Sāhitya [Varanasi: Hindi Samiti, 1972], p. 468). Title from colophon, which is incomplete, perhaps indicating that the manuscript is itself incomplete. Title abbreviations in upper left of ff. 1-3 read "Dī. Na.," suggesting (based upon the subject matter) a title beginning "Dīkṣā-Na..." Title abbreviations on ff. 4-8 read "Maṁ," suggesting a title beginning "Mantra..."
- Written 9-10 lines per leaf.
- Fair condition. All leaves colored yellow. Paper brown and fragile, beginning to deteriorate on edges. Text written in brown ink. Orange powder rubbed in to highlight sectional divisions, invocations, and some other words and syllables. Mistakes covered over with white, crossed through with brown, or blotched out with black or brown. Lengthy additions and commentary in margins of most folios, in brown and black ink.
- Folio 1r has a table and some text. Folio 2r has two small Yantras, six-pointed stars in circles enclosed by squares, and another smaller six-pointed star.
- Begins (f. 1v): śrīr jayati. atha gurulakṣaṇam. śānto dāntaḥ kulīnaś ca vinītaḥ śuddhaveṣavān. śuddhācāraḥ supratiṣṭhaḥ śucir dakṣaḥ subuddhimān. 1. āśramī dhyānaniṣṭhaś ca maṁtrataṁtraśāradaḥ. nigrahānugrahe śakto gurur ity abhidhīyate 2
